Zion Camping in the Off-Season

You’ve been eyeing all those dreamy Zion National Park Instagrams—emerald pools, glowing red cliffs, cactus blooms—and thinking: 2026 is my year to see the southwest!

Spring is truly one of the most magical times to visit Zion for so many reason from the incredible cactus blooms to the warm, dry breezes that pass through. Spring is when Zion and the surrounding area has waterfalls flowing and the days warm and long, so you can hike or bike until the early evening. If you’re considering staying with us at Camp Land Beyond Zion, the off-season is exactly when to start dreaming, researching, and reserving your perfect spot under the stars.

Here’s everything to know.

Spring in Zion = Pure Magic

March, April and May are some of the most beautiful months in the desert around Zion National Park. If you’ve never seen the desert wake up after winter, you’re in for a treat:

  • Cacti burst with color—bright pink prickly pear blossoms and deep red hedgehog blooms (April and May)

  • Wildflowers dot the desert floor across Cane Beds, Hildale, Hurricane, and Virgin.

  • The Virgin River runs higher from spring storms and snowmelt, and waterfalls outside the park are at their best.

  • Temperatures hover in the 70s, ideal for exploring trails that are too exposed to attempt in summer.

This is the season when the landscape feels alive, and camping becomes absolutely dreamy.

⛺ Why Spring Is the Best Season to Camp at Camp Land Beyond Zion

Our campground is tucked away in the quiet desert of Cane Beds, Arizona—far enough from crowds to feel peaceful, close enough for quick access to Zion, Water Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, and Snow Canyon. We are just 45 minutes away from the Zion visitors center on easy to drive scenic backroads like Smithsonian Butte Road near Apple Valley.

In the spring:

  • Nights are mild, perfect for tent camping or vanlife.

  • Starry skies are incredible—the Milky Way is bright and clear by May.

  • The camp kitchens and BBQ are comfortable to use in the cooler evenings.

  • Our field campsites are lush and soft with spring grasses.

  • It’s warm enough for morning coffee outdoors and cool enough to sleep comfortably.

  • Soaking In the hot tub is amazing after a long day hiking.

Spring is also when guests start spreading out across the property, choosing the best spot based on vibe—open field? Shady tree? Mountain sunset view? You get to pick your perfect corner of the desert.

🚐 The Off-Season Is the Best Time to Reserve the Site You Want

Because our campground is flexible (you choose your exact spot when you arrive), the off-season is the time to think about:

  • What kind of camping setup you prefer

  • Whether you want a power + water site for your van or small RV

  • Whether you'd like the quiet of the back field or the convenience of the front

  • What kind of weather you prefer—April brings cooler nights, May is warm and comfortable

Spring fills up faster than people expect, so planning early ensures you snag your ideal date.
